Fort Myers, FL - On the recomendation of a friend I took the wife out to the newly opened Sam Sneads which is located on Daniels just past I-75. Now I'm no food expert, I pretty much eat the same dinner every night. 1/4 pound of ground turkey, sweet potato, rice cakes.
So, every once in awhile we like to go out and have something different. The wife usually gets fish. I'm a big musclular tough guy so I will either go with the chicken or steak. Many people love a nice juicy, blood dripping piece of meat. Not me. I like it cooked. No red. No blood. It's just not my thing. I've actually gotten a better with old age, ordering medium well, not burnt to a crisp. Don't get me wrong, I still like my steak burnt to a crisp I just found out it offends most cooks so I settle for medium well. As if the cook mated with the male cow to produce the steak I'm about to eat. Whatever. I'll order it medium well and knife around the edges. The last thing I want is for a mad cook serving me mad cow.
What you are obviously looking at in this picture is not burnt to a crisp. It's not even close to medium well. In fact it's nearly dripping with blood. But the worst part about it for Sam Sneed, rest his soul, is that this was the third steak they served me "medium well". So, I had 3 wonderfully cooked sweet potatos Saturday night and 3 forks full of red meat. If I were a food critic, which I am not, I am a food lover, this new place would get a big Roger Ebert thumbs down.
