As Cost of Wetland 47 Rises, Country Club and District at "Impasse".
Gateway residents continue to get screwed and this time it's by both the Board of Supervisors and the Gateway Golf and Country Club. There has been a flurry of activity this week regarding Wetland 47. It will most likely come to a head tomorrow night at 5:30 when the Board meets. The bottom line, when it comes to the cast of characters known as Bob Nielson's Board of Supervisors, you and me lose more money. And, I know by now, you do not find this surprising in any way. My Tuesday story (below) outlined the detailed expenses you have paid so far for Wetland 47. And here is your update...
Yesterday, the Country Club gave the district a memo claiming it has spent tens of thousands of dollars maintaining Wetland 47. There were no actual invoices provided only the words "estimate" and "extrapolate". The memo which you can read HERE goes on to say that the total "estimated" cost to the club will be $170,000. Are the residents supposed to feel sorry for the Gateway Golf and Country Club. Our expenses are real, not estimated, and the keep growing thanks to your mistake. You guys play golf, not us. You guys mow the lawn and trim the trees, not us. You guys hired the contractor who violated the law, not us. You guys own the Wetland, not us. What the Country Club is trying to do is get the residents to pay for what is turning into a colossal error that the residents had nothing to do with. Enough is enough.
The residents already have $100,000 into Wetland 47. They've paid out all of that money and they neither use the golf course nor violated the law. They are simply getting screwed. Being that the district is the permitee of the wetland and the club owns the wetland, the country club is trying to use that technicality to get us to pay the bill. Enough is enough already. It's time the Supervisors did what they were elected to do. It's time to stop spending money on trying to come up with a solution and start taking action against the insurance companies and whoever else is driving up our expenses.
