Warren Davies Says Stoneybrook Signs Not His Idea. Issue Gets More Confusing

Fort Myers, FL

The saga about the Stoneybrook "No Street Parking" signs just gets more confusing. I'm completely baffled that nobody has been able to figure out who requested the signs, who paid for them and who decided they negate all street parking. It almost now appears that someone or several someones may be hiding something. In addition, it amazes me that nobody, other than me, is asking why the district installed them without a full board resolution.

Former Stoneybrook board member Warren Davies who we were told by several people was the brains behind the signs decided he had to clear his name. He says it wasn't his idea and he went so far as to post a letter on the Gazette that we have highlighted below. In return we apologized to him for the posts accusing him of being the culprit.

The letter we received from Warren Davies
"Who ever told Mr. Jack that I pressured Bill Knight needs to go back and check documentation. During the time I was on the Board putting up No Parking signs on Stoneybrook streets did not come up. People listening to rumors should take the time to check the facts and present the entire picture not just the what benefits their position".

"Check the Board Minutes on the subject. The first I heard about the signs was at a recent Board meeting where it was first discussed. At this meeting it was very poorly presented that the signs would be going up and the blame was being pushed totally onto Gateway Services. If you check the minutes for the February Board meeting you would see what was discussed. They have not been posted as of this date, which is not unusal".

"When these signs went up I questioned if they were erected with the proper authorization so that they could be enforced. From what I have found out from several law enforcement people it is highly questionable.
People should do some checking before they make inaccurate statements. The last conversation I had with Bill Knight while I was on the Board concerning cancelling the contract SB had with GSD that allowed SB to maintain the roads and right of ways".

"The signs are a bad idea, especially the way they are written. Whoever recommended posting sign that at ate parking on one side of the road only is on the right idea if parking signs are needed. Just posting signs that cannot be enforced is a waste of time and especially money".
