After a totally disappointing football season where their team could hardly muster up any points, the Gateway Charter High School has something to look forward to again under new head coach Victor Coates. Charter crushed Southwest Florida Christian Academy 42-14 Friday night in the teams Spring game.
It was the Shaquille Jones show. Jones ended the night with 200 yards rushing, three touchdown runs and two more through the air. He took a muffed snap and ran 49 yards for a touchdown on the Griffins' first possession. On Gateway's next possession, Jones ran 70 yards on the first play for another score and the rout was on.
On defense, Gateway tacklers had 6 sacks and 15 stops behind the line of scrimmage.
