Groundswell Bubbling in Daniels Preserve

Fort Myers, FL
This ought to be interesting. After finding out that at least one neighbor, who became a board member, was given a break on her H.O.A. dues, other Daniels Preserve residents have come up with a plan. And, it's a good one.

I spoke to several residents today who said they planned to attend the next H.O.A. meeting and request refunds for all of the late fees that were tacked on to their membership dues. And, good for you people. Why an H.O.A. tacks on late fees when, perhaps, a neighborly call can solve the problem, is beyond comprehension. It's really just a way to add money to the H.O.A. coffers.

And when you think about it, what really happens between late day one and late day 30 or 60 that causes the H.O.A. to need more money from that individual. Nothing. Nothing happens. Well, there is one thing. A useless management company employee turns on a computer, opens word, writes a nasty-gram, dips a stamp in water and seals that letter in an envelope being very careful not to break a fancy fake fingernail. "Another 15 days late and we're gonna auction off your house on the courthouse steps bucko."

I have some advice for Daniels Preserve residents, if anyone really cares about my 2 cents. listening. If you've had a hardship over the past year and you feel you haven't been treated fairly by your H.O.A., write a letter and request a refund. Your board has shown a "pattern of fairness" in the past and to be consistent I am sure they will show fairness to everyone requesting fairness. Your H.O.A. President, Kinley Engvalson, who I have had the pleasure of working with, is a very fair person.

There may be a few Daniels Preserve residents left who do not read the Gateway Gazette. You may want to print this issue out and hand deliver it to them. You have my permission, I also have refrigerator magnets if you can pass them out too.

Good luck to you all.
