Fort Myers, FL
Fort Myers, FL. In Typical Bob Nielson fashion he tried to find a way to deflect any of his own responsibility for another G.S.D. mess he's involved in. As I reported a few days ago the concession stand at the Gateway sports complex was found in disgusting condition. It was discovered by a new CSA employee.
There were spiders on the walls, paint buckets being used to transport ice and caked up grease behind the deep fryers (see my entire story here). The CSA employee told me the place would have failed inspection. RED LIGHT!
Since the deplorable conditions were found, the CSA has written a letter of apology for not taking care of the district's expensive investment. And, the entire concession stand has been cleaned top to bottom and repainted by the CSA. Supervisors Gary Neaubaur, Ed Sichel and even Margaret Fineberg were very concerned about what was found. Sichel said "this makes me very nervous".
His holiness, El Presidente Roberto Nielson, instead of taking the issue seriously, said "I wouldn't call this a problem when the CSA is actively using the concession stand". In other words, it's OK to let the grease sit where it is and leave the spiders on the walls until the CSA returns next season. No worries, El Presidente Flag Football kids love a little spider doody on their burgers. Nielson went on to say that the district was simply responding to " a negative article written in the Gateway Gazette". As if I put the grease there, or left the mess, or hatched the spiders. Can you people believe this guy? Pouting once again like he's being picked on. Woe is me. Evil Ed Ryan exposed another one of Bobby's little secrets. A crying towel for the esteemed chairman please!
What's even more amazing is that the Supervisors are even debating whether or not they should get a license for the concession stand. They are saying we don't operate it so we don't need a license being that the non-profits like the CSA or Flag Football are not required to have a license. So if little Suzie drops dead from a little rare meat (not from Sam Sneads) don't look at us. Try telling that one to a good lawyer.
Folks, the license costs a few hundred dollars - as opposed to the $100,000 they've spent on Wetland 47 (at the Gateway Golf and Country Club of which Bob Nielson is a member). When it comes to preparing and serving food why would you even debate being as safe as possible over shirking your responsibility. But that's dictator Bob for you. Do as little as possible while sitting on his throne barking out orders.
Nielson is knee-deep in the concession stand grease. He told the other board members he's been in the concession stand during the season stating: "'soccer is seasonal, you're looking at the concession stand on its worst day. They are not even using it". I need a gibberish translator to even understand that statement. This guy had his B.S. meter tilted full-throttle that night. Not only is he the chairman of the G.S.D. board (oh....it pains me to write that), he is also part of the CSA. Instead of making lame excuses he should be making sure the community is as protected as possible and the equipment we all purchased for tens of thousands of dollars is taken care of.
I wonder if they serve spider sandwiches up at the club when dictator Bob is playing tennis. Oh no, that's right, they call that Caviar.
