The Gateway Golf & Country Club opened its doors to the community for a Gateway Day Fall Festival, Saturday evening, October 23rd. The donations by attendees will benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Lee Memorial Hospital in honor of Piper Buckley. The event was a huge success with over $10,000 going to the NICU, the $5,000 raised will be matched by an anonymous donor.
More than 850 residents of the Gateway community had a great time. Adults and children alike danced to the sounds of ‘Angie & the Perfect Gentlemen’. Children enjoyed the novelty of their own ‘kid size’ barbeque with chicken nuggets, macaroni cheese and other ‘kiddie’ delights, while adults munched down on burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc.
While adults relaxed, children lined up at the bounce house, slide and the horse drawn carriage leading to the haunted walk and chocolate treats. Gateway Golf & Country Club is an integral part of Gateway and the hosting of this event brought friends and neighbors together and at the same time raising money and awareness to benefit our local hospital system.
